American actress Louise Fletcher, who won a best actress Oscar for her role in Milos Forman’s “One Flight Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (1975), has died in France at the age of 88, American media reported Friday.

Louis Fletcher, who had two sons, died at his home in Montdurausse in the south of France, according to Variety and Deadline.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama (USA) on July 22, 1934, Louis Fletcher used sign language to thank his deaf parents when he received his Oscar.

Her most notable role was as Nurse Mildred Ratched in ‘One Flight Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’, starring Jack Nicholson, which also won her a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for Best Actress.

Later he acted in films like Robert Altman’s “The Player” or “The Exorcist 2”.

But Fletcher was also a figure of American television, returning in series such as “The Incorruptibles” or “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.”

She received Emmy Award nominations for her roles in the television series “Picket Fences” (1996) and “Joan of Arcadia” (2004).
