Coffee beans also have some drawbacks. But rest assured, as a coffee lover, these few flaws ultimately make up part of all the hard work and passion that can go into making a great cup of coffee.

True, these are not real drawbacks for me because I love everything that surrounds the coffee and the way it is prepared. Making my own coffee is an activity and a passion in itself that I would like to pass on to you.

But after all, if you’re not as passionate about all this as me, there are definitely downsides to buying coffee beans, then there’s no point in denying it.

More complexity

If you currently have an espresso machine that requires the use of capsules, you can be sure that buying and brewing coffee beans will bring more complexity than you are used to. But beware, this is usually for a good reason!

Buying coffee beans requires some knowledge and experience (which can be gained very quickly, especially if you are new to just one brewing method).

You will have to learn how to choose a good coffee and learn how to prepare it well. So, we will give you some clues, don’t worry!

This apparent complexity can be a burden for some people. You may want to enjoy your coffee, without having to know and understand everything that goes into making coffee.

If you don’t quite like coffee and love a great cup of coffee that is easily brewed and without having to find the perfect grind size for your coffee machine, that’s fine. Coffee beans may not be right for you.

But over time, sipping on fresh coffee from time to time…maybe you’ll eventually tip the scales on the grain side (which, to my delight!)

Extra time to prepare your coffee

This second flaw goes hand in hand with the previous one: it’s time.

So we are not talking about a huge waste of time especially when we reduce it to 24 hours a day. However, some of you may be tempted to save a few seconds before each coffee by choosing ground coffee.

In fact, it is essential that you take the time to grind your coffee. This will be faster or slower depending on the grinder (manual or electric).

But it will also be necessary to adjust the grinder in accordance with the selected coffee. If you want to change the coffee regularly to discover new flavours, you will have to reset your grinder regularly to achieve the best possible extraction for each new coffee.

It may take some time, and it’s up to you to see if it puts a strain on all the benefits that coffee beans have!
