Two men from the Bay-Saint-Laurent Bay-des-Chapels appeared Wednesday in connection with the discovery of more than $ 30 million worth of 270kg of cocaine on a boat in Halifax last year.
Magellan Raymond, 70, and Josie Kaisi, 60, face charges of importing and possessing cocaine for smuggling purposes, the RCMP said in a statement.
They appeared in a video conference in Nova Scotia Provincial Court yesterday and were released on parole.
Failed to identify
The case was investigated by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) on a boat from the Caribbean until July 17, 2020, which did not announce its arrival in Canada.
CBSA Marine Operations officers detained the ship on July 18 at a boat club in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
During the search of the ship, officers found about 270 kilograms of cocaine hidden in various places on the ship. The value of this seizure is approx. CBSA estimates at 33.8 million.

Two people on board, Magellan Raymond and Josie Kaisi, were arrested and charged with possession of drugs by the RCMP.
The RCMP said the accused had agreed to smuggle these large quantities of drugs from the Caribbean to Canada.
The Quebec detachment RCMP conducted the investigation, with the help of the Pass-Saint-Laurent deed.
