Works by lesser-known authors, but also big hits.
This week, two images come to mind when thinking of gaffes by Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois and François Legault.
Frozen in 1967
In GND’s case, it was Austin Powers, a James Bond parody filmed in 1997 with Mike Myers.
A particularly funny scene where the evil Dr. Evil (reawakened 30 years after being frozen in 1967) tells his minions that he has an evil plan.
Steal a nuclear missile and threaten to destroy the world if you don’t give it up immediately… a million dollars!
His gang members look at him in disbelief…
“Um, maybe raise the ransom a bit?” One of them told him. A million dollars today is nothing. There are also companies that have a turnover of crores! »
For Dr. Evil, living as we are in the late 1960s, a million dollars is an enormous, astronomical, unimaginable sum. But in 1997, yes, it was good, but anyway …
I immediately thought of this image when I heard GND say that Quebec solitaire was going to tax the “super rich”.
What is a super-rich according to QS?

For QS, this number is gigantic! Colochi!
But as my colleague Daniel Germain and Mario Dumont of the Money Section so well pointed out yesterday, if you’ve paid off your house after 20 years and it’s now worth $420,000, you’ve conscientiously contributed to RRSPs. You have life insurance and a good retirement fund, chances are you have, yes, a million dollar fortune!
You are not a “very rich person”. A responsible worker takes care of his finances.
But for QS you are on par with Bill Gates.

For François Legault, the image comes to mind The wages of fearFilmed by Henri-Georges Clouzot in 1953.
Yves Montand plays a boy who has to drive a truck full of nitroglycerin into the jungle. He must be very careful, because at the slightest shock, he will jump!
It talks about Legault immigration.
As you move through this high-speed slippery terrain, you have to do Montand and drive at a speed of 1 cm/s.
But our Prime Minister got into his truck and put his foot on the accelerator.
Result: He was talking Kaboom for only 15 seconds!
Fortunately, news is plentiful these days.
GND’s cafe was reduced by Legault’s faults, reduced by the Queen’s death.
He was saved by the bell!
