Two members of the Ottawa Police Service have been charged following an investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Anti-Corruption Unit.

The RCMP made the announcement on Thursday evening.

The investigation began several months ago after the Ottawa Police Service asked the RCMP for help in investigating the breach of trust.

Following further investigation into the crimes committed by the four accused, two more were indicted: Onderian constables Haider El Badri, 29, and Mohamed Mohammed, 45, were charged with obstruction of justice.

El Badri has been charged with violating the trust of a public official and inciting the processing of a forged document, while Ashley El Batry, 29, of Ottawa, has been charged with inciting and inciting the processing of forged documents.

Mohamed Saleem, 29, originally from Katino, was charged with falsifying documents.

The accused will appear in Ottawa court on September 1, 2 and 3.
