The Cabinet approved the request for Cabinet approval for the merger of the companies of Grupa Lotos based in Gdańsk and Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen based in Pock, which was submitted by the Minister of State Assets – the Prime Minister’s Adviser announced in the announcement.
“The merger of the two companies will be part of the consolidation of companies in the Polish fuel and energy sector including Orlen, Lotos and Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo (PGNiG). PKN Orlen will play a leading role in this process. The solution will contribute to improving energy security in Poland and the region, which is especially important in the current geopolitical situation ”- it was announced in the press release.
She added that the continuous transformation of energy in the world poses a major challenge for companies in the fuel and energy sector, as it assumes a gradual move away from hydrocarbons and traditional fuels in favor of new and more sustainable energy sources. “As a result, companies in this sector are forced to look for new and promising areas of work, which will guarantee them the possibility of long-term development ”- wrote the press release.
Trade unions give the green light
It has also been reported that The Polish multi-energy interest will focus on diversifying its activities and maintaining competitiveness in the long term.
“By 2030, the concern may become one of the largest integrated petrochemical producers in Europe. In addition, in order to meet the challenges of transformation, the Polish company would like to invest significant funds in the development of plastic recycling technology ”- he emphasized.
