NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 with Ada AD102 graphics card can provide up to 24GB of memory with a TDP of 600WIn a few months, NVIDIA will introduce a new generation of consumer graphics cards in the form of the GeForce RTX 4000 family, based on the Ada architecture. In recent weeks, a lot of information has been published about the capabilities of architecture and building single graphics chips in the network in the form of AD102, AD103, AD104, AD106 and AD107. The most powerful GeForce RTX 4000 cards will use the AD102 chip, which NVIDIA certainly won’t play in any half-actions to deliver uncompromising performance in HD. The topic of power consumption is still uncertain, but the latest information, revealed by Igor’s Lab portal, indicates that top-end cards equipped with the NVIDIA AD102 chip can actually deliver an obscenely high TDP of up to 600W.

New information about the NVIDIA AD102 graphics chip’s reference PCB (ADA architecture) indicates that the top card can be equipped with 24 GB of VRAM again, and the TDP can already reach 600W.

The pin diagram between GA102 and AD102 must be identical, which could result in the use of existing cooling system designs, which are already made for cards based on the most powerful consumer Ampere chip. However, the power section will be modified. The GA102 PCB provided 20 transducers, while the NVIDIA AD102 core PCB board will use a total of 28 phases – 24 VRM switches and 4 VRAM switches. The project also confirms that AD102-based systems will be able to use a maximum of 12 VRAM chips, which will likely translate to 24 GB. GDDR7 memory certainly won’t appear in early GeForce RTX 4000 models, so NVIDIA will likely use the GDDR6X chip again.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 – Other reports confirm AD102-core graphics card will be extremely power-hungry

Additional information indicates that the PCB is currently being tested with GA102 chips (since there is pin compatibility and AD102 chips will not be delivered in the coming months) and a custom BIOS capable of a maximum power consumption of 600W. Requirement, it is necessary to use a special adapter from 4x 8-pin sockets to one 12VHPWR (12 + 4). If a top-of-the-line card like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 will indeed offer such a high TDP (which is very likely), then this adapter is included with the graphics card. Therefore, a very efficient graphic card is being prepared but it consumes a lot of power. The premiere of Ada Architecture should take place at the end of September.
