After an exceptional performance at Indian Wells, the Polish woman became the world’s second-largest rocker, to make up for Agnieszka Radwańska’s historic achievement. When Świątek officially appeared in second place in the ranking, no one expected that she would rise after a few days and immediately become the “first” in the world.

All thanks to the exciting decision of the current leader – Ashley Barty. Last Wednesday, the Australian shocked the tennis world by announcing that she would end her professional career immediately. The 25-year-old’s decision was met with extreme disbelief. However, Barty herself stated that she wanted to “pursue other dreams”. However, information appeared in the media that the tennis player from Antipodes intends to marry and will soon give birth to a child.

At the same time, Barty appealed to the WTA to remove her from the list of players. In this case, it became clear that someone else would take her place, and Świątek became the main “favorite”. For this to happen, one of two scenarios had to be fulfilled – the 20-year-old had to win her first-round match in Miami against Victoria Golubec or count on Paul Bados not winning the final. The Polish woman decided to take matters into her own hands and, without waiting for what her opponent would do, she defeated Golubice 6: 2, 6: 0 in great style, thereby taking first place in the latest edition of the WTA rating.
