Sony is an important part of our industry

The head of Microsoft Gaming has published a statement about the Call of Duty branding for PlayStation. Gamers don’t have to worry – if Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard, the next parts of the prestigious series will go to PS5. Phil Spencer met with Sony representatives.

From last week, there are voices about the exclusiveness of the Call of Duty franchise on Xbox and PC. Phil Spencer decided to end the discussions once and for all, which he confirmed was after talks with Sony employees and If an American company buys Activison Blizzard, then the following parts of the popular shooter will also be available on PlayStation.

“I had good conversations this week with the leaders at Sony. You confirmed our intent to honor all existing contracts following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry and we value our collaboration.”

Spencer’s letter is very important because it confirms one thing – PS5 owners don’t have to worry and they will be able to play new installments of the Call of Duty series in the future. The company also wants to honor all previously signed contracts, but we can be sure that will be because we’ve seen the same situation in the case of Bethesda.

The Microsoft Gaming chief’s confirmation will certainly be widely commented on, because while this is great news for PlayStation fans, we can doubt that some of the most die-hard Xbox fans will turn their noses at this decision.
