Polish volleyball players beat the United States 3-2 in a thrilling semifinal. Despite the problems, they managed to come back into the match and turn the tide of victory in their favor.

– I have played such matches in my career, but never in such a difficult moment as the Olympic semi-final. “That’s why I think this is the most important victory in my career and I hope it won’t be the last,” admitted coach Nikola Grbic.
Player injuries are a serious problem for the national team. Tomas Fornal was injured in the match against Egypt. After suffering an injury in the quarterfinal match against Slovenia, Mateusz Pjanic did not return to play in this tournament. Pawel Zatorski and Marcin Janusz suffered in the semifinal against the USA.
– When you are nervous, when there is a lot of pressure, it is easier to get injured. I think the situations where Fornal, Benek and Zatorski got injured were unfortunate. I think that as a team we should have been stronger than that and we were in the semi-final. Everyone played very well, everyone wanted to help the team. I saw the faces of the American players. At 12:9 they were in a good mood, but their mood was deteriorating from one action to another. I hope that everyone will play at their full potential in the final. “I also hope that the referees will be neutral,” the Polish coach said.
Will Marcin Janusz and Pawel Zatorski play against France? This is one of the biggest questions ahead of the gold medal fight at the Olympic Games in Paris.
– I think Pawel Zatorski will be fine. Two days ago it wasn’t good, yesterday it was better, today it’s also better and I think he will play. He may not be 100%, but he has to perform. Marcin Janusz? I don’t know. He was fine all day recently, but when he woke up he felt something again. We did two treatments today, did everything we could and we look forward to tomorrow. I hope he can help us too. If not, we will play with Grzegorz Lomacz – Grbic pointed out.
