The World Health Organization accuses China of concealing data on the origins of the coronavirus
  • The World Health Organization believes that this data should have been available long ago. Not only did they stay, they are now gone
  • According to scientists, a possible version is that it was raccoon dogs from the Wuhan market that infected people. This calls into question the previous results, which said that the source of the disease was people who transmitted the virus to others in the market.
  • Chinese researchers’ concealment of data has angered the scientific community. “This raises more questions about what the Chinese government really knows,” Jeremy Kamel, a virologist at Louisiana State University’s Shreveport Health Sciences Center, told The New York Times.

The World Health Organization has warned Chinese officials to halt research that might link the origin of the COVID-19 virus to wild animals, asking why data was not shared three years ago and why it is now missing, the US newspaper reported.

An international team of scientists has conducted research to determine the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to them, the likely version is that it was raccoon dogs from the Wuhan market that infected people. The animals were bred illegally. They spread coronaviruses and their DNA was found in the market.

“But the genetic sequences were removed from the scientific database after experts offered to cooperate with their Chinese counterparts in the analysis,” the newspaper reported.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, said this data should be available. He added that this should have happened three years ago.
