According to preliminary estimates, the state treasury debt at the end of July 2024 amounted to approximately PLN 1,476.8 billion, which means an increase of PLN 1.7 billion (+0.1%) on a monthly basis – the Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday.
The ministry also announced that domestic debt at the end of July amounted to 1 trillion 143.6 billion zlotys, and foreign currency debt – about 333.2 billion zlotys, or 22.6 percent. of the total state treasury debt.
Budget implementation
The state budget deficit after July amounted to PLN 82.8 billion, or 45 percent. Plans. Revenues after seven months amounted to PLN 356.5 billion, or 52.2 percent. plan, and expenditures PLN 439.3 billion, or 50.7 percent. plan.

The ministry announced that tax revenues for the state budget amounted to 319 billion zlotys. It was higher compared to the performance in the period from January to July 2023 by about PLN 33.4 billion. (i.e. 11.7 percent). VAT revenues amounted to PLN 170.3 billion and were PLN 29.4 billion, or 20.8%, higher than the implementation in January-July 2023. Indirect tax revenues amounted to PLN 50.5 billion and were PLN 3.5 billion, or 7.5%, higher than the implementation in January-July 2023. Personal income tax revenues amounted to PLN 48.8 billion and were PLN 11.3 billion, or 30.2%, higher than January-July 2023. CIT revenues amounted to PLN 37.9 billion and were PLN 11.6 billion, or 23.5%, lower than the implementation in January-July 2023.
“The implementation of state budget expenditures in the period from January to July 2024 amounted to about PLN 439.3 billion, or 50.7 percent of the plan, while at the same time it was about PLN 102.2 billion (or 30.3 percent) higher than the same period in 2023 (PLN 337.1 billion, or 48.6% of the plan),” the ministry’s announcement reads.
