The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Infrastructure reported in an interview with PAP that due to the impossibility of concluding an agreement with the municipal authorities, Negotiations will soon start with the owners of the land in the port.

– We absolutely do not think about nationalization. If we enter into cooperation, it will only be on commercial terms. Soon we will begin negotiations with the individual owners of these lands, if the city does not want to dispose of this territory. Deputy Minister Marek Grobarczyk told PAP that we intend to cooperate with the operators.

The city council in Elbląg recently reported that in the ownership structure of the port areas in the port of Elbląg, 46 percent belong to private entrepreneurs, 30 percent. is municipal property, and 24 per cent. owned by the state treasury.

– We will offer them favorable investment conditions and modernizing the docks so that they can be used for transshipment operations. – I think there will be a lot of interest. Some of the companies in the port are state-owned enterprises, and there is also a large grain merchant. We are also considering the possibility of purchasing land, but not necessarily directly by the state treasury, but by companies that may be interested in this – added the government representative.

The shipping channel through the Vistula Spit was put into use on September 17, 2022. Currently, the investor – the Maritime Office in Gdynia – and the contractors are carrying out additional works on the Vistula Lake and the Elblij River, thanks to the new waterway between the Gulf of Gdańsk, the Vistula Lagoon and the Elplug Port. .
