On Sunday, December 12, 2021, there will be no trade bans and stores will open. This is one of the two commercial Sundays leading up to Christmas. Sanitary rules and restrictions apply in establishments.
Two days before Christmas, no trade ban
From 2020, the trade ban will only apply on the seven Sundays of the year. This year, stores will open on December 12 and 19, which are the Sundays before Christmas.
Health system in stores
Masks covering the mouth and nose must be worn in all retail outlets. Stores are required to provide customers with disposable gloves and hand sanitizer when shopping. From December 1, a new person limit will be applied in retail outlets (one person per 15 square metres).
The Polish Council of Shopping Centers ensures that retail outlets provide customers with disposable gloves and disinfectant liquid. It also appeals to buyers to follow the DDM principle – maintaining a distance of about 1.5 meters from other people, frequent disinfection of hands and wearing masks in the correct way, covering the nose and mouth at the same time.
PRCH would like to remind you that vaccinations against COVID-19 will be conducted in many malls on Sundays for shopping in December.
Sunday trading ban – shops open
The law that restricted Sunday trading is in effect since March 1, 2018. However, there is an index of 32 exemptions. The ban does not apply, among other things, to post offices.
This exception is cited by larger retail chains that have decided to open stores on non-commercial Sundays. At least for now, because from February 2022 it will come into effect Amending the regulations to tighten the ban on Sunday.
