Spain: clash in Mallorca. More than 500 tourists fought the police

According to the daily Diario de Mallorca, the riots broke out mainly in the Magaluf resort, where many tourists resisted Spanish officials who tried to break the illegally organized games.

According to a statement from the local police, the services intervened because aggressive tourists, especially young people, ignored anti-epidemic regulations, and destroyed public property and cars parked in the streets.

As explained by the daily “La Vanguardia”, the interventions of the police have usually consisted in the liquidation of illegal events organized mainly around the beach in Magaluf, as well as several other locations in the municipality of Calvia there.

The local police confirmed that they used force to remove drunk and hostile tourists from public places. The operation was carried out with the support of the gendarmerie units.

According to the Balearic Police, the tourists who resisted were mostly citizens of Great Britain and France.

In the Balearic Islands, it is forbidden to organize meetings in public places between 1 a 6. During this time, the sale of alcohol is also prohibited.
