“Megalopolis” – what do we know about the project?
The “Megalopolis” cast already includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Natalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne and Aubrey Plaza, whose participation was previously announced. It has not yet been revealed who the new cast will play.
Coppola wrote the screenplay for “Megalopolis” in the 1980s, describing the film as an epic tale of political ambition, genius and conflicts of interest. Her action is to take place in a utopian version of New York (called New Rome), which was destroyed as a result of an unimaginable catastrophe. The aesthetics of the work is said to refer to the Roman epic tradition.
Filming for “Megalopolis” was originally supposed to begin in 2001. However, when the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center took place on 9/11, other sponsors began pulling out of execution. The creator of “The Godfather” put the script back on the shelf and focused on depicting smaller, more personal works. Two decades later, Coppola finally decided to fund the dream project himself. To raise a budget of nearly $100 million, he decided to sell some profitable vineyards.
Shia LaBeouf vs. Olivia Wilde
LaBeoufa has achieved a lot of fame recently in connection with the movie “Don’t Worry Baby”. The actress refutes the allegations of director Olivia Wilde, who said that she kicked him off the set because she did not approve of his working methods. Meanwhile, LaBeouf claims that he himself quit, as evidenced by the recording he posted, in which Wilde calls out to him and asks him to change his mind. You can read more about this case here.
