Sergei Shoigu came to Ukraine, where he inspected the command of the troops of the Russian Federation. He also heard a detailed report from General Sergei Sorovikin, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In early November, the Russian Defense Minister said that 87,000 of the 300,000 reservists mobilized went to the front in Ukraine. He also admitted that there were “deficiencies” during the mobilization.
Shoigu’s visit to Ukraine
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Shoigu heard Surovkin’s report on the current situation on the front, the implementation of combat missions or the nature of Ukrainian military operations.
The issue of mobilizing supplies and equipment at the army’s disposal was also touched upon. Russian media reported that the command is currently in the so-called “special operations area”.
Shoigu heard a report of the commander of the joint group of Russian forces, General Sergei Surovkin, on the current operational situation, the nature of enemy operations, the performance of combat missions by the Russians, and the granting of all kinds of relief to the groups. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the number of personnel called up for service under partial mobilization.
The Defense Minister’s visit has officially ended. In accordance with the presidential decree, Shoigu awarded the military with the Gold Star Medal of the Hero of the Russian Federation, orders for courage and other state decorations for courage and heroism.
Sergei Shoigu, although one of Putin’s closest employees, is facing more and more serious problems. World media often write that it does not matter much, and that the subsequent defeats of the Russian forces are attributed to him. There are also more and more reports of the growing conflict in the Kremlin between Shoigu and the influential oligarch and head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin.
