And the first leaks, indicating that “Venus Moon Killers” are being prepared for the Cannes festival, appeared in July last year. The topic is now back, though it’s still just a guess and the question remains open. It is also not known if the film will be screened as part of the competition where it will compete for the Golden Palm.

If Killers of the Flower Moon actually made it to Cannes, it would be so Scorsese’s return to the festival after years of absence. In 1976, “Taxi Driver” was awarded the Golden Palm there, and in 1986, “After Hours” won the Best Director award.

The 76th Cannes International Film Festival will take place from May 16-27, 2023.

What will be the theme of “Moonflower Killers”?

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on David Grann’s book of the same name. The author reveals behind the scenes the gruesome murders that took place in Oklahoma in the 1920s. The victims were the Osages. The killings began after oil was discovered in the tribe’s lands. The situation became so serious that federal services were involved in the case. Edgar Hoover was associated with the investigation, and he used it to build his position in the forces that he later turned over to the FBI.

The cast included Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone.

The film was made for Paramount and Apple – the two companies split the costs when the budget grew to $200 million. The production will be widely distributed in cinemas around the world. And then you will get to the Apple streaming platform.
