Finnish media indicate that it will be difficult to develop a new defense plan for Finland within NATO if nuclear weapons cannot be introduced, for example, into Finnish airspace. They also add that there are currently several tactical nuclear weapons that can also be carried by F-35 fighters.

Iltalehti reports that Finland has ordered F-35 fighters, the first of which will be deployed in 2026 at an air base in Lapland. By 2030, all 64 aircraft will be ready for service. If Finland makes the right decision, the Air Force fighters will be able to carry American B61-12 tactical cores, which can be installed in F-35A fighters in the field. This will require Finnish pilots to be trained in their use.
