Actor Jason David Frank, who played green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver in the 90s series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has died at the age of 49.
His spokesman, Justin Hunt, confirmed the news to US media outlet TMZ on Sunday.
“We respect the privacy of his family and friends at this terrible time as we try to cope with the loss of such a wonderful person. He loved his family, friends and fans so much. We will truly miss him,” she said, without elaborating.
Rumors of his passing began on Sunday after his friend and personal trainer Mike Bronzoulis paid tribute to him on social media: “Rest in peace my brother. […] I’m still shocked. I feel bad, he called me, he left me a message and it took me a long time. Jason was a good friend to me and I will miss him,” she wrote on Facebook.
Walter Emmanuel Jones, who plays the black Power Ranger, responded to the sad news on Instagram. “I couldn’t believe it […] My heart is saddened by the loss of another member of our very special family,” she wrote.

Jason David Frank debuted in the first season of Power Rangers in 1993 and filmed three seasons for a total of 123 episodes.
