Chelsea have started talks with Luis Enrique. The Spanish coach will be ready to start his adventure in the Premier League – says “AS”.
After the dismissal of Graham Potter, Bruno Saltour took charge of the Chelsea first team. The Spaniard is only a temporary option as the search for a replacement for the Englishman continues at Stamford Bridge.
Julian Nagelsmann seemed the obvious candidate for the job. The young coach unexpectedly lost his job at Bayern Munich, giving the seat to Thomas Tuchel, well-known in West London.
The 35-year-old has a positive outlook on working in England, but he has a condition which is difficult for the Blues authorities to accept. The German does not want to start his adventure with a new club until after the end of the season. Of course, that doesn’t fit Chelsea’s 11th place at the moment.
According to “AS”, for this reason, the focus was on another character – Luis Enrique.
After the World Cup, the Spaniard ceased to be the coach of the Spanish national team, announcing a break from football. Well, the 52-year-old’s plans may change, because there is an interesting offer on the horizon.
Representatives of Chelsea, headed by head coach Christopher Pfeiffel, contacted the required coach’s environment, hoping for a speedy completion of the entire process.
The chances of that are high. Enrique said some time ago that he would like to try his hand at the Premier League.
Enrique has already flown to London for further talks with his trusted man, Ivan de la Peña, accompanying him. An ex-Barcelona player and now a football agent, he was helped landed at Celta Vigo after an utterly unsuccessful spell at Roma.
