Magda Linnett, after defeating Rebecca Peterson in the first round of the WTA 1000 Championships in Indian Wells, faced a very serious challenge. And Victoria Azarenka has stood in the way of the Polish tennis player, a player who has years of best form behind her, but still presents a very serious challenge.
The Polish woman certainly couldn’t be considered the match favourite, and her possible outcome could show fans what Linette could realistically do. The match started more than an hour late, as the women waited for one of the men’s arc matches to finish.
In the first group, Linette fought a fierce battle with Azarenka entitled. At one point, the Polish tennis player had a 5:2 lead. In the end, the Belarusian woman won the match 7:5.
The second set started much better for Azarenka, who quickly advanced 3-0. At this point, Lynette decided to drop the match. The cause was an ankle injury at the end of the first set.
