I don’t expect anything good from the Russians

On August 24, six months will pass from the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This day is also a national holiday of Ukraine. In this regard, there are fears that Russia will somehow try to disrupt the celebration of this holiday.

– I don’t expect anything positive from the Russians. This is why you can expect barrages to fall in different places and cities. You can also expect offensive political decisions to annex these or other parts of Ukraine, but the worst case scenario is the one related to the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia, which is currently under Russian occupation and the Russians may redirect the flow of electricity to Crimea or to Russia – said former head of the Foreign Ministry Witold Waszkowski referred to these predictions.

The situation in Ukraine

MEP also commented on the situation around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. in the last days The Russians agreedExperts from the International Atomic Energy Agency to enter the facility. As Waszczykowski points out, there is a reason.

“Russia formally agrees, but wants these nuclear agency tasks to confirm its sovereignty over them,” he said.

According to the politician, the only positive development in recent weeks is the start of Ukrainian grain exports. This was possible thanks to the mediation of the President of Turkey, Recep Erdogan.

When will the war end?

Waszkowski also suggested the possibility of ending the war. As he explained, for the time being this entails agreeing to the “annexation of Ukrainian lands” and certainly will not bring peace.

The Russians clearly declared that they want to destroy the Ukrainian state, nation and society. He said that ending the war at this point would be just a pause that ends when the Russians gain new strength to strike Ukraine.

MEPs believe that from Poland’s point of view it is “extremely dangerous” because allowing Russia to subjugate Georgia, Ukraine or Belarus would de facto allow “the occupation of Polish territory”.

– It’s a terrible concept – said the PiS MEP.
