GeForce RTX 3050 tests in cryptocurrency mining. How to drop a new Nvidia card?

The premiere of the GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card is approaching in larger and larger strides, which is intriguing gamers with a less affluent wallet. Will it be of interest to cryptocurrency miners?

The premiere of the GeForce RTX 3050 was announced at the beginning of the month – according to the manufacturer’s announcement, we will receive equipment that will allow you to comfortably play modern games in 1080p resolution with ray tracing (you will also need to measure the image using the DLSS function).

What will the GeForce RTX 3050 offer?

The GeForce RTX 3050 is the weakest representative of the Nvidia Ampere generation, so its specifications do not look particularly impressive.

Model GeForce RTX 3060 GeForce RTX 3050 8GB GeForce GTX 1650
drawing layout GA106-300 . ampere GA106-150 . ampere Turing TU117-300
shading units 3584 2560 896
mounting units 112 80 56
drip units 64 64 32
tensor core 112 (3. gen) 80 (3. gen)
RT . units 28 (2. gen) 20 (2. gen)
master clock 1320/1777MHz 1552/1777MHz 1485/1665 MHz
video memory 12 GB GDDR6 192 bit 8 GB GDDR6128 Bit 4 GB GDDR5128 bit
memory clock 15000 MHz 14000 MHz 8000MHz
memory bandwidth 360 GB/sec 224 GB/sec 128 GB/sec
TGP (Power) 170 watts (8 pin) 130 watts (8 pin) 75 watts (without)
suggested price) $329 $249 $149

The card uses a “trimmed” Ampere GA106 graphics chip and 8GB of GDDR6 128-bit memory. The power consumption is estimated at 130 watts, so an additional power supply is required.

In the manufacturer’s tests, the new model is supposed to perform about 2 times better than the GeForce GTX 1650 and about 4 times better than the old GeForce GTX 1050 support, so they basically can’t handle it).

GeForce RTX 3050 – Tests in Cryptocurrency Mining

How does the new paradigm work in cryptocurrency mining? It turned out to be not good.

GeForce RTX 3050 - Performance in Ethereum Mining

According to tests revealed by VideoCardz editors, the card should deliver a performance of about 12.5 MH/s when mining Ethereum (with a power consumption of 73 watts).

The Chinese laboratory 潮 玩 玩 published slightly better results – after optimizing the parameters, the card is expected to reach 13.66 MHz / s (at a power consumption of 53 W).

After all, this is not very good performance – mining on such equipment at the current ETH rate is simply unprofitable (you can suspect that the manufacturer has implemented an additional algorithm that limits mining performance, similar to GeForce RTX 3000 LHR cards). This means that the GeForce RTX 3050 is unlikely to be of interest to miners and more cards will be available for casual gamers.

How would it actually be? We will probably find out next week – the premiere of the card is scheduled for January 27, and dozens of non-reference models prepared by partner manufacturers will appear on the market. The card is $249, but it’s likely to be much more expensive in stores.
