Her family announced Saturday that American folk singer Naomi Judd, best known for her role in The Jude, which she co-founded with her daughter Vinona, has died at the age of 76.
Wynonna and her sister Ashley, an actress, shared their “deep grief” on their Instagram accounts.
“We lost our wonderful mother mentally,” they said without further details.
Naomi and Vinona Jude formed their pair in the late 1970s, winning several awards, including five Grammys. Some of the mother-daughter couple’s most popular songs are “Love Can Build a Bridge,” “Mom is Crazy,” and “Girls’ Night Out.”
Although separated in 1983, the two reunited several times for tours and special events, officially dissolving in 1991 when Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis C.
