Estrie: French errors in MTQ signs

Quebec Ministry of Transport (MTQ) road signs are attracting attention in the Estrie for the wrong reasons: we can see some blatant French mistakes.

A sign located in Sherbrooke, where we read “Barry Dont 16km” should read “Barry Dont 16km” instead.

These two errors are found in at least three separate posters. This situation has been condemned by the French Mandatory Movement.

“There are people who don’t do their job well,” Jean-Paul Perrault, head of the movement, told TVA Nouvelles in an interview. They show their incompetence.

He appealed to the ministry and the people to ensure that such mistakes do not happen again.

These signs belong to MTQ, which confirms that a correction is required.

“As always, the contractor has a signage subcontractor who installs the signs and then he’s the one,” noted Isabel Dorais, spokeswoman for MTQ in Estrie.

He explained that an MTQ representative would make the first visit to the site.

“This was done on Wednesday and immediately the ministry’s representative noticed two errors in the identification,” he added.

This type of shyness is more common in Quebec. Mr. According to Perro, there must be quality control.

For its part, MTQ maintains that this is an isolated case.

“It’s very rare that a situation like this arises, but the speed with which changes are made is critical,” explained Ms Dorais.

The latter mentions that these typos will be corrected by Saturday morning using stickers.
