Teacher Watville, knocking on doors, loves surprises and twists. This is what awaits us Dear DoloresThe first part of a trilogy immerses us in the universe of Dolores, a woman who, in appearance, leads a fulfilling life.
The mother of three boys, Atlas, Orion and Hermes, she is in a relationship with Frank, a selfless movie superstar, and lives in a big and beautiful house. Her life changes when he tells her that he wants to change their partner and live apart in an open relationship with other women. Dolores returns to her hometown, where she left off 20 years ago, and accepts the garage her father gave her. The move causes an electric shock in the village, which does not look good with Dolores returning from the big city. “Dolores is a very complete, intrusive woman, the owner of a garage who wears velvet high heels while repairing cars,” exclaims the writer Elise Lace, whom we met.
Says isolation
A number of themes explored by author Élise Lagace: the family we leave behind, the couples going bad, the middle life crisis, the responsibilities we are fleeing and rural life. “I grew up in the countryside, living in Lanadier, north of Joliet. There is a real social feeling, it’s very strong, we are all connected to each other, like a big family. There is a mutual help, fully accepting the other, we see in my novel. We all know each other. There are obviously love-hate relationships, jealousies and people who are jealous of other people’s lives, ”he explains.
This life, to be precise, is made up of unexpected events, good and bad surprises, which can sometimes be painful, especially when you have to make difficult decisions. By the time you enter your forties, you have three children and responsibilities, and you sometimes want to give up everything.
I needed to tell you about the age I have always considered an expiration date for women, entering forty. I remember a friend who was forty years old and did not like young girls .. I remember he had a hard time in the morning … it made me very sad.
Elise Lace
“I thought to myself that this was going to happen to me too. Whereas now I am 42 years old and I feel so much better about myself than I was when I was 25 years old. And women are more fulfilling. We free ourselves from everything, we know what we want, we have fun, we take responsibility. That’s what I did when I was writing this trilogy. The opportunity for us to love one another, That’s the title! May we stop separating from each other and love each other! ⁇
Élise Lagacé has long worked as an editor or promoter for various publications. She admits that it is difficult for her to make progress. “It took me a long time. Writing has always been my goal, it’s my life, it’s who I am, it’s a part of me. I like to tell stories, I live by my characters who sometimes surprise me. I have a lot of ideas, so this is a trilogy.”
Through this book, his second novel, he assures the reader that it will be fun (for sure!) And that its sequel is promising, and that his characters are out of control. “I like literature that is entertaining and at the same time thought-provoking, and I enjoy reading and enjoying it! ⁇
Dolores in songs
The music occupies a special place in this novel as each chapter corresponds to the title of a song. DJ Dolly’s profile was created on Spotify and Deezer, and we’ll see his 50 songs listed by Chere Dolorès. A very different choice from Julian Clark to Lionel Richie via Missy Elliott, The Beatles and Robert Charlaboise. “It’s a sub-element. It’s a way of creating a real universe for Dolores’ character, who was a DJ, and it’s interesting to feed the text with music.
