We’ll likely see the official Dead Island 2 footage next week. Amazon prematurely updated the product sheet, including the game’s release date. We can doubt that the show will take place during gamescom.
After years of waiting Dead Island 2 will hit the market on February 3, 2023. Title moves to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The production, which was first introduced in 2014, ran into many difficulties along the way – at first the project was handled by Yager Interactive, then the zombie-infested adventure was taken over by Sumo Digital, and finally the site was moved to Dambuster Studio.
Dead Island 2, matching New Tales from the Borderlands, has been added to the Amazon catalog ahead of the official announcement. According to the latest description, players will play the role of heroes who are resistant to the virus, and the action will take place in dangerous Los Angeles.:
A deadly virus spreads throughout Los Angeles, California, turning its residents into hungry zombies. The city is under quarantine and the army withdrew. You learn how to tame the inner zombie. You and a handful of other adventurers proven immune to the pathogen are the ones who decide the future of Los Angeles (and humanity). When you discover the truth about the epidemic, you will discover who you are – or what – you are. Survive, evolve and save the world – it’s just another day in Los Angeles! “
Dead Island 2 will offer “a unique blend of horror, black humor, and above-average killing zombies”, However, it hasn’t changed much since the first announcement, and we’ll still be dealing with a first-person RPG.
We will have six characters at our disposal, each with unique characters and texts, while during the game we will freely customize the heroes. In LA, we encounter “dozens of different types of zombies”, and each type of enemy has its own mutations, attacks, and hundreds of LA related variants.
Dead Island 2 takes players through the most iconic locations of the City of Angels, now tainted with horror, on an exciting journey from the verdant suburbs of Beverly Hills to the quaint parks of Venice Beach.
