This is one of those ads that no one expected. Max Payne and Max Payne 2 will return with a complete update from Remedy Entertainment. This is an unusual project as the developers have received approval and a lot of support from Rockstar Games.
Remedy Entertainment announced the announcement of Alan Wake 2 last year, but I can say with confidence that for many players, the return of the esteemed writer will not be the most important production in the studio’s experienced history. The developers have just confirmed the collaboration with Rockstar Games.
Under the contract prepared, Remedy Entertainment will create the “Max Payne 1 & 2” project, and the developers responsible for the Grand Theft Auto series will be the ones who will fully fund the game – Officially it is a remake of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.
The developers confirm that the collaboration between Remedy and Rockstar Games goes back to the original version of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne – until then the games were created by Remedy and published by Rockstar Games.
Now we can confirm it Remedy Entertainment will provide the “games as a single title”, meaning it will be a bundle up to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S and PC. The developers will use their own Northlight engine. Quantum Break, Control, and CrossFire X (Story Mode) were created using this technology.
“We were thrilled when old friends at Remedy approached us with a proposal to remake the original Max Payne games. We are so impressed with the work the Remedy team has done over the years, we can’t wait to run the new releases,” said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games.
“Max Payne has always held a special place in everyone’s heart at Remedy, and we know that millions of fans around the world feel the same. We are very excited to once again work with our partners Rockstar Games to bring back the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games for players,” said CEO For Remedy, Tiro Fertala.
Rockstar Games provided a budget that matches “producing a typical treat for AAA games.” The game is currently “in the conceptual development stage”, So we’ll probably have to wait a few years for the premiere.
