With disastrous results on the European scene, “Barcelona” intends to strengthen the team in the middle of the season. According to the Catalan media, the goal is to bring a defensive midfielder and right-back.

But first, the club needs to make room in the budget. And the daily “Sport” reported that Barcelona will try to get rid of Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Memphis Depay in January.

The two leaders are playing an increasingly diminished role at the Camp Nou. In recent weeks, Xavi has often worn young Jules Conde or Alejandro Baldi. In turn, Depay has been treating the injury for a long time, but even if he was healthy, the Dutchman would not have a better chance of winning the competition with Robert Lewandowski.

Getting rid of Pique, Alba and Depay would allow Barcelona more freedom to operate in the market. However, the club will have to reach an agreement with the players, as the Spaniards’ contracts are valid until 2024, and the Dutchman’s contract is valid until the end of the season.
