An important date is approaching for some retirees and pensioners

Every working retiree who has not reached retirement age should remember the applicable income limits that determine the amount of benefit received. They were last updated in June. Importantly, the limits change four times a year. Therefore, you should remember to stay within the applicable salary range at all times.

– The income thresholds that reduce or suspend benefits change every three months: in March, June, September and December. They are currently announced in the ZUS President’s announcement, and will apply from September to November 2024. They should be monitored by workers in the workforce who have a disability or early retirement, said Paweł Żebrowski, a ZUS spokesman.

Earning limits

According to the spokesperson, as of September 1, the limits will be lower. If a pensioner or retiree earns a total of PLN 5,626.90 per month, there is no need to worry about the benefit being suspended. However, if his or her monthly salary exceeds a total of PLN 10,450.00, the Social Insurance Institution will stop paying a pension or disability pension to that person. Any amounts between these limits will result in your benefit being reduced by the excess amount, but not by more than the maximum reduction amount.

Let us remind you that the maximum reduction amount is PLN 890.63 for old-age pension and total disability pension, PLN 668.01 for partial disability pension and PLN 757.08 for survivors’ pension for one person. It is also worth noting that these amounts are valid from March 2024 to the end of February 2025.

People who have reached retirement age, people receiving war invalids’ pensions, military invalids whose inability to work is related to military service and those receiving survivors’ pensions do not need to worry about the limits.
