President Trump said he did not accept the decision of British Prime Minister Kair Starmar to recognize the Palestinian state this month if Israel did not make peace in Gaza.
Speaking at a press conference with Starmer on Thursday, Trump said he wanted to release the hostages immediately. The disagreement with Starmer’s attitude is, “One of our disagreements is one of our disagreements,” Trump said.
Asked why he did not recognize the Palestinian state ahead of Trump’s arrival this week, Stormer said that “the arrival of this state has nothing to do with the time of his announcement, and that Hamas could not have a role in the future administration by the October 7 attacks that led to Israel.
Trump was asked why he did not use his authority to insist that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was to prevent military operations in Gaza. Trump said: “I want to end it, but I want to withdraw the hostages. I don’t want to use the hostages as human shields. This is what threatens Hamas.”
Leaders discussed Russia’s war on Ukraine
Starmer, which leads European initiatives to support Ukraine, said the West should make Russia more pressing to end its war.
“In recent days, Putin has shown his true face since the invasion, and more bloody, more innocents have been killed, and the NATO airspace has been unprecedented,” Starmer said.

“These are not the actions of a peaceful person. So today we discussed how we can create our protection to support Ukraine and to increase the pressure on Putin to admit a lasting peace agreement.”
It has been a month since Russian President Vladimir Putin held Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks in Alaska – he said that would lead to negotiations between Putin and Ukrainian President Volotmir Jelenski. But the meeting has not changed, and the Russian strikes on Ukraine have intensified.
Prior to his journey, Trump had established new sanctions on Russia on NATO members on the purchase of energy from Russia, and is using massive fees for the import of Chinese goods.
Trump, in his initial comments, said he was frustrated with Putin, and said he expected to have an easy time to end the war due to a good relationship with the Russian president. “He fell down on me. He really fell me down,” Trump said.
Asked about Russia’s next steps, he said the lack of progress was “my biggest disappointment.” The war is “not affecting the United States” and the Starmer said that “is more close to the scene than us.”
Starmer said the latest Russian strikes and the recent drone infiltration show the need to put more pressure on Putin. “During the president’s [Trump] Putin has pressed that he really has any choice. So we have to increase that pressure, “Starmer said.
“What you can see is at least reckless in the role of Putin, which is why I have said earlier that they are not someone who wants peace, so we have to increase,” Starmer said. He said the UK and French governments had stepped up the military plan and that “an American guarantee.”
During his comments, Trump said that the US is trying to return the Bagram air base north of Kabul in Afghanistan. “We like that site again,” he said. He did not elaborate on the idea.
