German-born Marcus Nispel, started his career as an art director for ad agency "Young and Rubicam" in Frankfurt, Germany. At age 20 he came to America on a Fulbright scholarship in 1984, and directed his first video, the debut offering for C&C Music Factory, in 1989.
While in New York, Nispel founded his own production company, Portfolio Artists Network, before merging with Ridley and Tony Scott and their biocastal company RSA-USA.
Nispel's commercial work has earned numerous international accolates, including sveral Clio Awards, the Moebius Award and the Grand Prix at the BDA Awards. His video work has won 4 MTV Music Video Awards, including a 1993 MTV Best European Video Award for "Killer, Papa was a Rolling Stone" by George Michael.
He has been the subject of two documentaries and was featured in Time Magazine's year-end issue "Best of 1996" for his Fidelity campaign. His commercial work is now part of the permanent collection at the Musseum of Modern Art.
In all, Nispel has directed nearly 1000 commercials and music videos. His commercial clients include Mercedes-Benz, Motorola, Kodak, Pepsi, Audi, Coca-Cola, Nike and Levi's.
His music videos include more than 15 #1 songs and breakthrough videos for artists such as The Spice Girls, Puff Daddy, Bush, No Doubt, The Fugees, Janet Jackson, Elton John, Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Maria Carey, LL Cool J, Gloria Estefan, Soul II Soul and the B-52's.
Marcus Nispel made his feature-film directing debut with the remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
