The Great New Wonderfull on DVD Sept 12thPosted by: MichaelFrom director Danny Leiner (Dude, Where’s My Car, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle) comes the new brilliant heartwarming-comedy THE GREAT NEW WONDERFUL, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal (Secretary), Tony Shalhoub (TV’s hit comedy "Monk"), Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck), Judy Greer (13 Going On 30), Edie Falco (The Sopranos), Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report) and MORE. A story with five interconnected storylines, THE GREAT NEW WONDERFUL is set in New York City less than one year after 9/11. "This mysteriously rich, mostly wonderful comedy-drama takes place in September 2002, when the lives of its unconnected New Yorkers have returned to something that looks normal," says The Boston Globe. The film is timely scheduled for release September 12 from Vivendi Visual Entertainment, following its critically acclaimed theatrical release (First Independent Pictures/June 23, 2006 and its knockout debut at the Tribeca Film Festival).
DVD Bonus Features will include a new technology, which allows viewers to watch the film in several different ways. The film can be watched sequentially or you can watch the film from each of the 5 main characters points of view (five mini-movies). Also included are deleted scenes, New York City - Behind the Scenes, Character Stills, Director Commentary and the theatrical trailer. Dr. Trabulous (Shalhoub) is an orthodox psychologist who utilizes his unique insights to unearth the buried rage of an ordinary office worker (Jim Gaffigan) who lost several co-workers in the terrorist attack, but has remained in denial. Emme Keeler (Gyllenhaal), the ruthless proprietor of The Great New Wonderful – a leading purveyor of pastries to the New York society set – struggles to unseat NY’s reigning Queen of Cake (Falco), to great success and profound consequences. Allison & David Burbage (Greer, Tom McCarthy) struggle to keep their marriage together while coping with their increasingly difficult 10-year-old son. Avi and Satish (Naseerudin Shah, Sharat Saxena), immigrants, best friends and security guards, travel around the city casually observing contemporary America until dramatic events force them to re-evaluate their opposing perspectives. Judy Berman's (Dukakis) routine is upset when she reconnects with a childhood friend whose passion for life kindles unexpected desires of her own. One year after 9/11, these stories reveal that being lost always precedes a new beginning
