Box Office Report: FRIDAY (estimates) 9/1 2006

Before we go over the results for today it should be made clear that right now these are only the estimates that have been provided by BoxOfficeMojo.com concerning Friday. The actual numbers for Friday, and the entire weekend will be posted on Tuesday due to the labor day weekend. Looking at it they are expecting Jason Strathom's action flick "Crank" to come out ahead at least for Friday. My guess is that when the weekend results are released we might actually see the Vincent Papale story "Invincible" starring Mark Walberg to take the lead despite this being it's second week out (For the record, I am not a fan of football: But I loved the movie. Go figure). Nick Cage's remake of "The Wicker Man" is not expected to be as popular, having already received several negative reviews from critics and in my opinion...just not looking very interesting.
  1. Crank / $3,300,000 / Reviews
  2. Invincible / $3,046,000 / Reviews
  3. The Wicker Man / $2,785,000 / Reviews
  4. Little Miss Sunshine /$1,855,000 / Reviews
  5. The Illusionist / $1,600,000 / Reviews
  6. Talladega Nights / $1,485,000 / Reviews
  7. Accepted / $1,270,000 / Reviews
  8. CrossOver / $1,185,000 / Reviews
  9. Step Up / $1,178,000 / Reviews
  10. World Trade Center/ $1,040,000 Reviews
Come Tuesday I'll post the actual results for the weekend and we can see what's up. This coming Friday we will see the films the "Covenant", about a bloodline of witches who must face off against the ancestor of their greatest enemy, and "Hollywoodland" about the real life story and apparent suicide of actor George Reeves who played Superman during the 1950s serial.

Until next time.
