Cillian Murphy to star in Red Eye Movie

Variety reports that Cillian Murphy, the star of the hugely successful 28 Days Later, and Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) have landed the lead roles in Wes Craven’s upcoming airborne thriller ‘Red Eye’. 

 

Murphy is reported to play a mysterious man who takes McAdams hostage on a plane and threatens to kill her father unless she helps to arrange the murder of a prominent businessman.

 

Apparently Murphy took a ‘Red Eye’ flight of his own out to Los Angeles to audition for the part.  Craven said Murphy wanted the role so badly he flew from London to LA, met with the director in the terminal and then caught another flight back to London, where he was getting married the next day!

 

Craven mentioned that he is going to be taking a more dramatic approach to this movie, rather than just all out horror as it was originally scripted by Carl Ellsworth.  Filming is set to begin November 8th in Los Angeles and it is due to be released (tentatively) around spring 2005.
