Jackson Talks King Kong Movie: 'It's about gorillas'Posted by:Production on 'King Kong' effectively got underway yesterday with a news conference where director Peter Jackson talked about the movie and his plans for it. We're really just attempting to make a wonderful, mysterious adventure film. At the end of the day it's about gorillas, it's about dinosaurs and lost islands. Our King Kong is very battered, he's very ancient, he's the last of his particular race on the island. He did have a mother and father but they're now dead and there are no more after him. He's the final survivor and he's a very old gorilla. Jackson was joined by the stars of the movie, which include Naomi Watts (who fills the role Fay Wray played several decades ago), Adrien Brody, Andy Serkis and Jack Black. The news conference was held at Jackson's production studio in Miramar, a suburb of Wellington, New Zealand. Production on the film will 'officially' begin next Monday. Jack Black, whose last role was as an enigmatic teacher in the movie 'School of Rock', mentioned that he is very pleased about the opportunity to work with Mr. Jackson on this film. I remember thinking to myself while I was watching The Lord of the Rings: 'Man, I have got to get an audition for whatever he does next'. Then you get the call, and it was like, 'Don't blow this, boy'... With the star studded cast, and Peter Jackson behind the helm, this is shaping up to be a terrific movie. Lets hope the gorilla effects aren't entirely too cheesy as a lot of CG is nowadays.
