Mortal Kombat 3 a Prequel?

We have been covering this movie for quite a while now. Granted I am using that term loosely since I am not sure you can call it covering since we really know next to nothing and I am not sure if anyone cares there is a new Mortal Kombat flick coming.. but.. anyhooo. It would seem according to our comrades at SpaceJunk that the movie is going to be a prequel. Why you ask? Well not because the story will be better, but because its cheaper. By doing a prequel the producers can then cast hungry new actors who dont require good pay, and just want their big break. Granted we have not spoken to the producers but this answer would not surprise me.

The movie was planning to film in New Orleans but the Big K Hurricane has caused them issues. I hope they do suck it up and go to New Orleans to film if anything to help out those good people with some money injected into the economy.
