Guillermo wants a Hellboy trilogy

Empire Magazine had a lengthy interview with Guillermo del Toro about Hellboy and many other things. But one of the things that they touched on was a possibilty for another Hellboy after the first sequel.

"I would love to make Hellboy into a trilogy. Creatively, Mike Mignola and I know that we want to at least do that. Economically, it's the studio's decision." But what of the plot of the sequel? "We tried to do an entire sequel based on the Roger [a homunculus created by a scientist to bring about the end of the world] origin story, and found it to be actually very similar to what Hellboy is in the first movie — a conflicted monster. So the sequel will have another BPRD member, Johan the Ectoplasmic Agent."

It sounds great. I really enjoyed the first film and am really looking forward to Hellboy 2. Hopefully he will get his wish and take it to three.
