Girl Next Door Season 2 ReflectionsPosted by: DanI am a man who is happy to not be Hugh Hefner. Even though he is in the lap of luxury, with several million dollars at his disposal, surrounded by young nubile naked women, and king of the naked media kingdom, I am glad I'm not him. Why? Because a bunch of his playmates live with him (well ok, on the same property as him), and I think that they, collectively, have the same amount of intelligence as a bag of concrete. It's what makes this show great though, and what makes me want to keep watching, well if my wife would let me. And there are copious amounts of nudity in the show (though, thanks to the FCC, E has to blur it out. God I can't wait to buy the DVD!). The girls bounce around topless quite a bit, and you know, there is nothing wrong with that. The first show takes us through the set up and execution of Hugh's 80th birthday party. First of all - Damn. 80 years old and the man is still pretty spry. Who wouldn't be, surrounded by beautiful topless (even if they are made of plastic) women all day? The first episode follows 3 girls as they try to get ready for this 2 day birthday party. Apparently Hef likes to have a 'Casablanca' night, and then an all out bash the next day. Hef's primary girlfriend, who seems to display the most intelligence, gets him two peacocks as his gift. Another girl gives him a strip dance from a cake (which included the insanely creepy scene where the girl's parents came to visit her and she showed them the strip dance...). The last girl got him a photoshopped copy of herself in a L.A. Confidential style cover with Hef's shadow in the background. The evening culminates with a huge party, lingerie dancing, and rap blaring in the background. What a great party. The show is great fun entertainment, for both men and women, as my wife kept a constant stream of laughter going at how... well empty headed the girls seemed at times. It's great for men because, well... they are exceptionally pretty girls who are mostly naked. One of the most interesting scenes was when Hef's primary girlfriend invited some of the previous playmates over. To see that the women turned into normal people once away from the playboy mansion was refreshing. They didn't look fake - some of them looked like the ladies that I work with here at my office. My main question is - Does Hef swim in that giant pool he has? My screening only had the first episode on it, but I would love to see the others just to find that out.
