Aquaman Series Lives?Posted by: JerricaThe WB had "Mercy Reef" all ready to get rolling. Then, they joined forces with UPN, and Aquaman's television series aspirations got left behind in the shuffle of both stations' primetime programming. Competition for timeslots was fierce and the show, which would have been along the same teen drama vein as the supersuccess "Smallville," did not make the cut. The new hybrid network The CW did not pick up the show starring DC comics' guardian of the seas, Aquaman, also known as Arthur Curry. The series was supposed to be a spin-off from Aquaman's well-received "Smallville" debut in the episode "Aqua" this past season. But just as The WB decided to make a pilot for "Mercy Reef" before the scheduling worlds of two major networks collided, The CW may decide to pick it up despite its initial pass. The pilot episode was filmed, and since the plug was pulled on the series, the pilot was released on iTunes. It seems that the pilot has gained a lot of attention there and has been getting an extraordinary amount of hits and is being downloaded at a considerable rate. Now, this is as of yet unconfirmed rumor, but the word around the net and in fan circles is that The CW may be picking the series up after all for winter as a mid-season replacement show. This is so far mere speculation but the idea has sparked some serious conversation since the iTunes premiere is apparently generating a great response and even better, significant interest. The question is being asked around the Web if it is wiser to have a TV show or a movie, and the answer to that riddle remains elusive. I believe what matters is that one or the other eventually happens, because fans have been waiting for Aquaman to come to screen fruition somehow, hence his big debut on "Smallville." So, he might have a home yet in the fresh waters of The CW.
