Escape from Earth - Snake Plissken's Return? Update!

Storys about a 3rd Snake Plissken movie are running around for a few years now. After "Escape from New York" and the sequel "Escape from LA" its said that there already is a script for "Escape from Earth", again written by John Carpenter. Now our colleagues from Bloody Disgusting got an update from an anonymous scooper. Here is a little snippet from the article:

"A major meeting was held at Paramount last week with both John Carpenter and Kurt Russell in attendance. The topic -- preparing for a third entry in the Snake Plissken chronicles entitled "Escape from Earth". Apparently, Carpenter completed a script for the project eight years ago but the studio has now taken an interest in it after Russell demanded doing it before signing on with the studio for a three picture deal."

To read the complete article, just click right here. Great news, let's just hope they really make it. As for now this news has yet to be confirmed. I just wonder how they want to go on with the story, but since Kurt Russell and John Carpenter are working on this i think they will find a good way to continue the story. Update: Well folks, sad to say that it seems this scoop is not true. According to Ain't it Cool's Drew 'Moriarty' McWeeny who spoke with John Carpenter, the director hasn't been at a meeting with Paramount. Carpenter also said that "'Escape from Earth' is an idea we had several years ago, but it never really got any further than that.". Moriarty also got an email from Carpenters wife, the producer Sandy King, in which she wrote that "John has just spent a rousing week playing Tom Clancy's war video games and smoking in his favorite chair and eating fried chicken.
