Art School Confidential on DVD October 10th

Academy AwardÂ® nominees Terry Zwigoff (Ghost World) and Daniel Clowes (Ghost World) take on the world of academia in their second collaboration, the Sony Pictures Classics film, Art School Confidential. This behind the scenes expose will be released on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on October 10 . Director Zwigoff assembled a stellar cast for Art School Confidential featuring OscarÂ® nominee John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire, Places in the Heart), OscarÂ® winner Anjelica Huston (Prizziâ€™s Honor), OscarÂ® winner Jim Broadbent (Iris), Sophia Myles (Underworld, Tristan + Isolde), EmmyÂ® nominee Ethan Suplee (TVâ€™s My Name is Earl) and Max Minghella (Bee Season, Syriana).

Art School Confidential, with its skewed look at would-be artists and ineffectual art teachers, was acclaimed by critics as a worthy follow-up to the OscarÂ®-nominated Ghost World. Ruthe Stein, in the San Francisco Chronicle, declared that Art School Confidential â€œhas the same wonderful strangeness as Ghost Worldâ€? and Richard Dorment of Giant Magazine enthused, â€œFans of Zwigoffâ€™s Ghost World will find plenty to enjoy here.â€? Art School Confidential follows talented young artist Jerome Platz (Max Minghella) as he escapes from high school to a tiny East Coast art school. Unfortunately, neither his harsh judgments of his classmatesâ€™ efforts nor his later attempts to create pseudo-art of his own win him any admirers. But Jerome does attract the attentions of his dream girl, the stunning and sophisticated Audrey (Sophia Myles) an artistâ€™s model and daughter of a celebrated artist. Rejecting the affectations of the local art scene, Audrey is drawn to Jeromeâ€™s sincerity. When Audrey shifts her attention to Jonah (Matt Keeslar), a hunky painter who becomes the schoolâ€™s latest art star, Jerome is heartbroken. Desperate, he concocts a risky plan to make a name for himself and win her back.
