Diamond Dead Movie Future Un-certain

Posted by:
Ok so Diamond Dead is not exactly the most popular film on our site, but you know what its got Romero behind it, and Romero is the man. Brian Cooper who wrote it is also very talented and even when the word wasnt so great on the site for the script he still came by to say his bit. I for one appreciate that. During the recent Q&A with him he made it pretty clear that Diamond Dead is in trouble financing wise, but he also made it damn clear this movie has to be made. So this is our way of putting it to you the readers so we can keep the word alive and help keep Diamond Dead in the news.

His insistence of how good this movie is made me rethink my position on it. He spent a good 5minutes explaining to us what this movie is all about in detail. He re-wrote this script to make a good film, and after listening to him, I really do feel maybe it will be a great film.

As you know awhile ago we talked about Asia Argento from XXX and Dario Argentos films possibly being in the film, and this is what Romero wrote in his journal a little while back. Its got some expletives so cover your eyes if you cant handle it.

Fuck that shit. (Andrew told me that if and when I wrote entries for this site, the most important thing was that I be honest, So I'm being honest when I say, "Fuck that shit, man! All that Hollywood casting shit.")

I'm plugging for Asia. If she agrees to play the lead role in Diamond Dead, I will light candles in churches that I haven't visited since my days as an altar boy in the Bronx. When Rocky Horror was made, who knew who Susan Sarandon was? Or Barry Bostwick? When Night of the Living Dead was made, who knew who Duane Jones was? (Who knows, now, who he was? The poor guy died too young, never having gotten the breaks that Susan or Barry got. If only he had met Irvin Shapiro.)

I'm not in this to play bullshit games, man. Neither is Richard and neither is Andrew. (You guys log in if you think I'm wrong.)

I'm in this to make a flick that I believe in. A flick that can kick ass. A flick that can take us all back to a time when creativity (and balls) could kick everybody in the ass, including those execs who say "Nay" to whatever they don't understand. Rock and Roll, man. In the end, either Rock and Roll or cockroaches will rule the earth.

George Romero says working on Diamond Dead is the most fun that he has had in a very long time. And I think that says it all. Romero has never let us down yet with Zombies and I dont think he ever will. I am a Romero fan for life! Be sure to watch the video interview to hear what Romero has to say about the long lapse between Zombie films.. be blames it on conceit.. very interesting discussion!
