Denzel to Play Halo's Master Chief?

The film adapation of "Halo" still has a little time to go before it's put into production but the list of those onboard thus far is getting more and more impressive. Peter Jackson has been looking forward to producing the film for Universal ever since he became addicted to the game while working on "King Kong". While the official budget towards the project hasn't been announced yet it must be more than enough to afford Alex Garland's (28 Days Later) screenplay at a pricey $10 million paid directly to Microsoft.

 

The lastest news is that Oscar winner Denzel Washington has possibly been meeting with Mr. Jackson to discuss the movie's lead role of Master Chief. The character of Master Chief has never been seen without his iconic battle suit so it gives Peter Jackson the unique opportunity to cast the role without having to worry about who looks the part. The rumor spawns from our friends at Dark Horizons, so I'm willing to bet there are some good facts to back it up.

 

"Halo" is based on the very popular Microsoft series concerning a mysterious alien-created ring that somehow supports its own ecosystem. Master Chief leads a group of survivors from a downed warship across the terrain of Halo to discover the secret that the Covenant, a union of alien species at Holy War with Earth, are hiding concerning the massive device.
