BoxOffice Report June 25th, 2006Posted by: ShawnAdam Sandler's universal remote also seems to have been able to affect the results of this week's Box-Office Report. CLICK has managed to pull "Cars" from it's top-spot and show that Sandler still has a huge following of fans that are willing to see his films despite poor reviews (Though Sandler fan responses to the film have been positive, so maybe it's just about who you like). The "Cars" result dropped about $10 Million this week, but in it's 3 week run it's made over $150 million thus far. The Jack Black seem to have all seen the movie last week, so now "Nacho Libre" is losing a bit of steam with a $15 Million drop off in sales (total gross of $52,659,000). Gangster/Crime newcomer film "Waist Deep" makes a decent entrance to the top ten in the #4 spot. Afterwards it's a similar set-up with "Fast and the Furious", "The Lake House", "X-men" and some other familiar faces finish off the report.
Next Wednesday brings the man of steel back to the silver screen. Even with a early opening I expect the next weekend report to still find "Superman" dominating the pack. Fashion comedy "The Devil Wears Prada" will open Friday, and may or may not see the top ten depending on if "The Da Vinci Code" finally drops off the list. Then the following weekend, July 7th, the next summer blockbuster will be all about the pirates. If "Superman" can hold out against "Pirates of the Caribbean" then he's more powerful than I would have ever imagined.
Til next time.
