Mountain Patrol (Kekexili) on DVD August 29thPosted by: MichaelThe powerful epic and internationally acclaimed film Mountain Patrol (Kekexili) debuts on DVD August 29th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and National Geographic World Films. From the award-winning director Lu Chuan (The Missing Gun), comes the true story of the Tibetan mountain patrol team and their pursuit of poachers in the severe mountains of Tibet in the mid-1990s. Complete with gorgeous scenery of the Tibetan landscape, Mountain Patrol (Kekexili) has taken home three prestigious International Film Awards and has been nominated in both the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and the 2006 Hong Kong Film Awards. The DVD is available for the suggested retail price of $24.96. Inspired by a people's remarkable mission, Mountain Patrol (Kekexili) tells the story of Beijing journalist Ga Yu’s (Zhang Lei) journey as he uncovers the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of the Kekexili Mountain Patrol volunteers, the killing of the near-extinct Tibetan antelopes and the rumor that the Mountain Patrol collaborates with the poachers in the 40,000 square kilometer wilderness. Ga Yu joins the small mountain patrol group across the lands of Kekexili on a 10-day quest to track down the band of poachers who have kidnapped and murdered one of their men. Led by unrelenting leader Ri Tai (Duo Bujie), these volunteers from all walks of life share a common passion - their love of the Tibetan antelopes and their hatred of the ruthless poachers. At first an observer, distanced by the lens of his camera, Ga Yu gradually becomes personally involved in the struggle as he begins to realize that this is not a regular patrol, but a journey about life.
