BoxOffice Report June 19th, 2006Posted by: ShawnFour new releases have made their way into the top ten this week. None of which however were able to stand up against the overall appeal and family value of Disney/Pixar's "Cars" which remains in the #1 spot for it's second week. Jack Black's mexican wrestling comedy "Nacho Libre" came in at a close second followed by the newest edition in the "Fast and the Furious" series. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeve's time-travel romance "The Lake House" recieves a decent opening. Vince Vaugn and Jennifer Anniston's ANTI-romance "The Break-Up" is in it's third week and is slowly losing momentum. The Garfield sequel that shouldn't have been made has impressed enough kiddos to make $7 million in it's opening weekend. "X-Men", "The Omen", "The Da Vinci Code", and "Over the Hedge" round out the top ten. As predicted 'top ten' clingers, "RV", "Mission Impossible" and "Poseidon" couldn'tkeep up with the new arrivals.
Next week gets a few lower end films such as "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man", prisoner documentary "The Road to Guantanamo", and the 9/11 inspired "The Great New Wonderful". It's a pretty good bet that Adam Sandler's summer comedy "Click" about a man and his time controlling remote will get some box-office love next week. Will it over-take "Cars" and "Nacho Libre"? We'll see.
Til next time.
