Green Hornet Movie Update: Kevin Smith on directing

Posted by:
Kevin Smith has once again given everyone a little update on how he feels about directing "Green Hornet". Currently he is writing the script but he has said in the past that he is getting cold feet.

"I'm writing Green Hornet now, I'm 50 pages from the end of it, but I don't think I'm going to direct it," Smith tells Zap2it.com. "I've got cold feet after doing `Jersey Girl' with the biggest budget I've ever had, something like $35 million bucks and that was big for me. The notion of making something more expensive that I could serious f--- up on is pretty unnerving."

Meanwhile, Smith says Miramax chief Harvey Weinstein is encouraging him to leave his options open for directing the action superhero "Green Hornet" film, based on a comic book that Smith collected as a kid. "I appreciate the shot, but right now I'm not inclined to invite the stress," Smith says. "And who knows if Miramax will be around when they're supposed to shoot in April '05?"

He thinks he may return to his indie roots doing movies about people getting together and talking about sex. Smith adds, "I don't get me doing an action flick."
