McKellen Confirmed for Magneto Prequel

According to SuperHeroHype.com the special effects supervisor for "X-Men: The Last Stand", John Bruno, has confirmed that actor Ian McKellen will be reprising his role of Magneto for the upcoming spin-off/prequel. McKellen is said to be very excited about the idea. "Magneto" would cover the early years of the X-Men villain, giving a detailed look into the history that forged his hatred for humans. From his time within a Nazi concentration camp, to his involvement with Professor Xavior in creating the first school for mutants, the movie is bound to be quite epic. And now they have at least the star power to back it up.

 

After seeing "X-Men: The Last Stand" a friend of mine and myself got into a discussion about the casting for the X-Men movies and which ones were the best matches to their comic-book counterparts. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine obviously was our first choice (Sorry but it's true. You couldn't find a better Wolverine), but both Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart as Magneto and Professor X respectively were the next to be named. McKellen has a charisma that brings the character to vivid life in my mind. Some fans complain that he's too old to play the part, but that's just a desperate attempt to find something wrong with him. I think I am actually looking forward to "Magneto" more than I am the Wolvering spin-off that is also in the works.
